Use an Egg Donor
Many women or couples are faced with the fact that they do not have the requisite eggs, sperm, or uterus to conceive. In such cases, we turn to third party reproduction—the use of eggs, sperm, or a gestational carrier—to achieve pregnancy. Whatever the reason for needing these techniques, the expert, multidisciplinary team at Houston Fertility Specialists will guide you through the process. We understand that the use of donor egg/sperm or a gestational carrier can be an emotionally complicated process, but we will be with you every step of the way.
Become an Egg Donor
We want to thank you for your interest in our program. We are always looking for young, healthy women to donate their eggs and would love to speak with you further about the process. Egg donors are compensated for their donation.
To become an egg donor, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 20-28 years old.
- Height & weight proportionate.
- Have regular menstrual cycles and normal ovarian reserve testing.
- Complete required screening information.
- Have a blood test to screen for HIV, hepatitis B and C, and syphilis.
- Have a cervical culture screen for gonorrhea and chlamydia.
- Undergo psychological screening.
To become an egg donor you must complete the Donor Screening Questionnaire. When this information has been reviewed you will then be invited to complete the donor application. If you are eligible to be an egg donor, you will be contacted by the Program Coordinator to schedule further screening. This would include a review of your past medical history, family history, a physical examination, ultrasound, and bloodwork. Potential donors also undergo psychological screening which includes a visit to a psychologist and personality testing. Unless you are disqualified during the screening process, you will be paired with a recipient, and a time to begin your egg donation cycle will be determined.
